Subject: | [mget-help] pywin32 / ArcGIS 9.3 compatibility problem that affects Marine Geospatial Ecology Tools |

Greetings MGET users, If you have installed MGET within the past six months, you may
be interested in a problem we discovered that affects several MGET tools. In order to install MGET, you had to first install the Python for Windows Extensions,
also known as the pywin32 package. Several MGET tools require pywin32. It turns
out that build 213 of pywin32, released in February, and later builds contain a
problem that makes them incompatible for use by Python-based geoprocessing
tools on ArcGIS 9.3 and 9.3.1. Until this problem is addressed by either the pywin32
development team or ESRI (it could be a while), we recommend you use pywin32
build 212 in conjunction with MGET. You may wish to check your Windows
Add/Remove Programs application (called Programs and Features on Windows Vista)
to see which build of pywin32 is installed. If it is build 213 or later, we
suggest you uninstall it and install build 212 from the web site referenced
above. For more on this problem, please see MGET tickets #386 and #387. Please feel
free to reply to this email if you have any questions. With best regards, Jason |
