Subject: | RE: [mget-help] Eddy core ID tool |

Hi Adam, The short answer is that we aim to complete the tool by March 21, 2011. Here is the long answer. Currently, the core algorithm is done and actually present in MGET. It is implemented in MATLAB and in order to use it you must have either MATLAB 2007b or the MATLAB Component Runtime v7.7 installed (the latter is downloadable for free from the MGET website). The problem is that there is a low-level programming conflict between MATLAB and ArcGIS. They both rely on an open-source programming library called xerces-c, but they compile it using different compilers. The ArcGIS version is not compatible with MATLAB and vice versa. We thought we had developed a reliable workaround to this problem in 2009 but discovered in 2010 that it does not always work. We have a new workaround that is almost ready. Once that is complete we can enable the tool from ArcGIS. We have a number of priorities vying for our time but are on the hook to demonstrate the tool at a conference the week of March 21, so it must be completed by that time, one way or another. Best regards, Jason From: Adam Carrigan [mailto:] Hi there, What the status of the eddy core identification tool was. Thanks for your time. Cheers, Adam |
