Hi John,
MGET is not compatible with Python 3.x at this point. You should be able to
get MGET working with Python 2.5, however. Because ArcGIS 9.3 requires
Python 2.5, I recommend you stick with 2.5 regardless of whether you want to
use MGET. (If you eventually upgrade to Arc 10, it will be Python 2.6)
I'd recommend the following procedure:
1. From Control Panel --> Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs on
Windows XP), uninstall everything related to Python. Uninstall all Python
packages (e.g. Python 2.5-numpy 1.0.3) before uninstalling Python itself
(e.g. Python 2.5.1).
2. From Windows Explorer, delete any C:\PythonXX directories, where XX is
some number like 25 or 32. At this point, all Python-related stuff will be
gone from your machine.
3. Install the latest version of Python 2.5 for x86 Windows (a.k.a. 32-bit
Windows), which is Python 2.5.4:
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.5.4/python-2.5.4.msi
4. Install the latest version of the pywin32 package for Python 2.5:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/Build216/pywin32-216.w
in32-py2.5.exe. (Note: I have not tested build 216 of pywin32 yet, so I
can't say for certain that it is fully compatible with MGET. But I see no
reason for it not to be.)
5. Install the latest alpha version of MGET 0.8 available on the website. I
generally recommend this now over 0.7 because so many improvements have gone
into 0.8 at this point.
Your project with sawfish sounds interesting. I hope MGET will be useful to
you.

I am interested in downloading the MGET toolbox to my desktop, but I
have not been able to properly run Python 2.5, but I do have Python 3.2
downloaded. Is there a MGET that works off 3.2 or do you have any
suggestions on how to get a working version of Python 2.5? I am
currently operating on ArcGIS version 9.3, but can upgrade to 10 if need

Thanks for your assistance and for your work on the toolbar. I recently
graduated from Duke and have used the toolbar in a lot of ways and I'm
now looking to incorporate it into a project concerning the endangered
smalltooth sawfish to model distribution and habitat preferences from
the National Sawfish Encounter Database.
