Dear Tom,

I should be able to help you with that problem. What operating system are you running? If it is Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008, it is not sufficient to simply be an administrator. For the installation to succeed, you have to save the installation program someplace (e.g. your desktop), right-click on it from Windows Explorer, and select Run As Administrator.

The installation program is supposed to automatically detect that that has not been done and produce an error message instructing you to do it. But that detection seems to not always work, for reasons I do not understand. It seems to happen mainly on Python 2.6, which you would be using if you had ArcGIS 10.

Please let me know if the Run As Administrator solves it for you. If not, we’ll look at some other solutions.

Best,

Jason

Hello,

I am attempting to download MGET, but I receive the following error during the installation process.

Running the pre-installation script failed

Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "<string>", line 85, in <module>

RuntimeError:

The MGET setup program cannot install MGET for you because your

user account is not a local administrator on this computer. MGET can

only be installed by administrators. Please get help from a colleague

who has an administrator account.

I am an administrator on the computer on which I am trying to download the program.  Is there something I am missing?  Thanks for any help.
