Hi Catherine, Nice to hear from you! Please try a newer version of MGET. The version you have is fairly old and right around the time that I was developing those tools. Be sure to uninstall your old one first. Also, I recommend upgrading to the latest ArcGIS 9.3.1 service pack if you have not already done so. You should be able to download all of the products you mention, although the tools do not allow direct downloading of cloud rasters. They only allow you to mask the SST or chl raster; if you need the clouds specifically you can use ArcGIS map algebra to obtain the clouds. It is a good idea to limit the spatiotemporal extent as you attempted to do. Many of these tools download data using the OPeNDAP protocol which allows MGET to specify a bounding box and not download global images when you’re only interested in the English Channel. One exception is the data from the NASA OceanColor group; they do not host their data with OPeNDAP so the tool must download global images even when you’re only interested in a small area. Best, Jason From: McClellan, Catherine [mailto:] Dear Mget, I would like to use your tool to download many satellite images and then create climatologies. I am working on a Windows XP computer with ArcGIS 9.3.1, Python 2.5, and Mget 0.8a15. I have tried several times to use Mget to download AVHRR Pathfinder V5 SST to Rasters at yearly and monthly temporal resolution and just get errors that are rather uninformative to me. Examples are: Executing: AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters Yearly Nighttime sst C:\CHARM3\datasets\AVHRR Add %%Y true 4 false false false false false false false false false false false # # "" "" 60 # false true false false C:\CHARM3\datasets\AVHRR Start Time: Mon Oct 24 10:13:59 2011 Running script AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters... TypeError: object of type 'NoneType' has no len() <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: object of type 'NoneType' has no len() Failed to execute (AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters). End Time: Mon Oct 24 10:14:07 2011 (Elapsed Time: 8.00 seconds) Executing: AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters Monthly Nighttime sst C:\CHARM3\datasets\AVHRR\Monthly Add %(Monthly)s_%(Nighttime)s_%(sst)_%%Y%%j true 4 false false false false false false false false false false false # # "" "" 60 # false true false false C:\CHARM3\datasets\AVHRR\Monthly Start Time: Mon Oct 24 10:24:57 2011 Running script AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters... TypeError: object of type 'NoneType' has no len() <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: object of type 'NoneType' has no len() Failed to execute (AVHRRPathfinderSSTTimeSeriesCreateArcGISRasters). End Time: Mon Oct 24 10:24:57 2011 (Elapsed Time: 0.00 seconds) It could very well be that I do not have the raster naming convension correct. I tried to limit the download to one year under the spatiotemporal extent tab, but the numbers do not register. I also tryied a few of the other data products downloads with no luck. I ultimately would like to download sst and cloud rasters, chla (which I see on the Mget website, but not in the tool), and possibly geostrophic currents. Although I will be accessing global coverage products, my study area is limited to the English Channel. I am interested in getting monthly (where possible) images from 1991 - 2011. Any pointers to get me going would be appreciated! Thank you, Catherine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Catherine McClellan email: cell phone: +44 (0) 7747 585 265 |
