Hi Helenmary, Thanks for your interest in MGET. I can help you get this working. We have not obtained funding to complete the 64-bit version of MGET yet. It is a nontrivial exercise; not only do we have to port MGET to 64-bits, but we also
have to obtain 64-bit versions of the many other libraries (written by others) that MGET integrates within itself. Hopefully we’ll find a funding channel for that this year. The practical outcome of this is that you can use MGET with ArcGIS Desktop versions 9.1-10.2.2 so long as you do not install the 64-bit Background Geoprocessing
capability of ArcGIS. Assuming you do not install that capability, all geoprocessing will occur in 32-bit mode and MGET will work. It does not matter if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit computer and operating system; Microsoft Windows 64-bit can run 32-bit ArcGIS
just fine. Note that MGET is not currently compatible with ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 (we are working on that right now) or with “ArcGIS Pro”. We anticipate releasing a version
that is compatible with Desktop 10.3 sometime this month. We will probably not release a version compatible with Pro anytime soon, as Pro is a 64-bit-only program, so making MGET work with it would require completing the porting to 64 bits. I can’t read the error message you sent very well—the image is very tiny—but I’m pretty sure it is complaining about the Python pywin32 package not being installed.
Assuming that is correct, you should be able to solve it by installing the 32-bit version of pywin32 for Python 2.7. That is available here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/Build%20219/pywin32-219.win32-py2.7.exe/download This should get you going assuming you did not install your own copy of Python and are instead relying on the Python that ArcGIS itself installed. If you installed
Python yourself, it is not configured by default to work well with ArcGIS. My recommendation is to uninstall it and revert to the ArcGIS copy of Python. This is nontrivial as the Python installer sets the Windows file associations for Python files, then does
not revert them to when you uninstall it. Thus uninstalling Python does not restore the machine to the pre-installed state. If you are in this situation, let me know and I can help fix it… I hope that helps, Jason From: Helenmary Hotz [mailto:] I’m trying to install MGET-0.8a56.win32-py2.7 and get this message: I go to SourceForge and get nowhere, i.e. empty pages and errors. On your download page you say that MGET for MS Windows 64 bit (2.7x86-64 is Under development (contact us for status). That’s what I’m doing. Do you have the 64 bit version.
If not, what can I do to get this working? Thank you, Helenmary Helenmary Hotz GIS Lab Manager The School for the Environment University of Massachusetts Boston 100 Morrissey Blvd. Boston, MA 02125-3393, USA Tel: 1-617-287-5289 Email:
