Hello Kayla and Gary,

 

Thanks for your interest in MGET. The reason why MGET is not showing up in Gary’s toolbox list after installation is because ArcGIS maintains the list of toolboxes on a per-user basis, and the MGET installer does not enumerate all users on the machine and update all of their lists. So when you installed it under Kayla’s admin account, MGET added it to Kayla’s list of toolboxes but not Gary’s.

 

To add it, Gary should:

 

1.   Close all ArcGIS programs

2.   Start ArcCatalog

3.   Open the ArcToolbox window in ArcCatalog

4.   Right click on the red ArcToolbox node at the top of the toolbox tree and select Add Toolbox

5.   Navigate to C:\Program Files\GeoEco\ArcGISToolbox and add the toolbox you see there

6.   Close ArcCatalog

 

At this point, the toolbox will appear in future ArcCatalog sessions and all new maps that Gary creates with ArcMap. It will not appear in any existing maps because ArcGIS also stores a unique toolbox tree in each map document, initialized from whatever was in ArcCatalog at the time. So when Gary created old maps before MGET was in ArcCatalog’s list, the toolbox trees in those maps did not have MGET. To get them there, simply right click on that ArcToolbox node from within ArcMap and add it. You’ll probably have to do individually on each map you created before installing MGET. (I’m not 100% certain it still works this way, but that’s how it has worked in the past with ArcMap.)

Hello,

 

I am an IT Specialist for the Alaska Science Center and I have a user, Gary Drew (who is CCed on this e-mail), who is requesting to have MGET installed. I have followed the steps on both his workstation and his laptop. I was able to install it on his workstation under my admin account but when he remoted in (we are currently working remote due to the pandemic) to his workstation he is unable to see that extension. Please see the screen shot attached for info on his current version of ArcGIS. We are both at a loss as to why MGET isn’t showing up. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
