Dear Diana,

I am sorry you are encountering this issue. The problem of this particular error comes from the MGET code that attempts to reproject the ocean currents data to exactly match the template raster that defines the coordinate system, spatial extent, and cell size of the connectivity analysis. To do this, MGET uses the ArcGIS Project Raster and Clip tools.

These tools, particularly Clip, behave slightly differently in different versions of ArcGIS. If the resulting rasters for all the days of ocean currents do not have precisely the same shape, the simulation will fail. But sometimes the Clip tool yields a raster that is too large by one cell, sometimes it is too small. MGET attempts to detect this and then run Clip again with slightly different parameters, but it is possible I missed some scenarios with some version of ArcGIS.

I am on vacation this week but can help more next week, if you like. Please send your simulation directory in a ZIP file without any ocean currents in it (you can delete them first because they are so large). Then please send a transcript of running the tool and causing the failure, so I can see all the parameters that you used. You can just copy from the ArcGIS geoprocessing window and paste into email. I will try to reproduce the problem.

Best regards,

Jason

Subject: MGET connectivity

Dear professor,

I am writing you because I am usig the MGET connetivity tool for my master thesis in the National Autonomous University of Mexico   (UNAM) and I had some trouble while running the tool.

I was trying to use the  GOMl0.04 hycom data with the rasters for the Golf of Mexico example but I noticed it worked well for the years previous to 2015, I had a successful run for the 2011 year. But for example for 2016 it showed the following error:

RuntimeError: The extent of the output raster C:\Users\Diana\Documents\GOMex\Prueba_2016\Currents\u\2016\u20162250000.img (-2.56399e+06, 2.02558e+06, -1.12399e+06, 3.60158e+06) does not match the extent of the template raster C:\Temp\GeoEcoTemp_Diana\tmpv2zb6k\water_mask (-2.56399e+06, 2.01758e+06, -1.12399e+06, 3.60158e+06). This should not happen and indicates there may be a bug in this tool or ArcGIS. Please contact the author of this tool for assistance.

Could you give any suggestion to solve this problem?

Many thanks,

Diana Carrillo
