Dear Idham, I’m glad to know the Pathfinder version 5.0 / 5.1 tool has worked well for you. We are aware of 5.2 but unfortunately we do not have a tool compatible with it at this time. There are several reasons for this. The main reason for that is 5.2 is a pretty different product. It was produced with different software than 5.0 / 5.1. It has a different number of rows and columns. It has different way of masking clouds that does not provide the information that 5.0 / 5.1 does (it does not provide access to the results of the individual pixel quality tests that 5.0 / 5.1 provides through the msk1 and msk2 HDF files). It uses the GHRSST netCDF4 format rather than HDF3. All of these made it difficult to adapt our existing tool to work with it. A second reason is that the Pathfinder team’s budget has not allowed them to produce any more years of data under version 5.2, so it is unclear whether investing our efforts in supporting that format will be worth it. From my talks with Ken Casey of the Pathfinder team, their next eventual step will be to reprocess the entire archive using the Pathfinder 6.0 architecture, once that has been completed. When that happens, we will release a new tool for 6.0. There is still some possibility that we’ll support 5.2, especially if 6.0 continues to be delayed. Until then, the workaround is to download the netCDFs and convert them manually. Sadly, the existing MGET netCDF conversion tool does not handle netCDF4. It is still possible to do it using a script, however. If you have an urgent need for the 5.2 data, I can probably help you with that. Best regards, Jason From: Khalil I. I have no problem in running and getting the datasets(from *.hdf to *.img). I just wondering if you aware that the new data format is now in netcdf as shown in their website http://data.nodc.noaa.gov/opendap/pathfinder/Version5.2/contents.html.
